Pam Fox returns to JW3 to share stories from her new book, Bloom’s: The Most Famous Kosher Restaurant in Great Britain.
In this richly illustrated and entertaining evening, Pam will be in conversation with acclaimed oral historian Alan Dein - who also contributed to the book - exploring the history, legacy, and cultural resonance of the Bloom’s restaurants and kosher meat factory.
The event will include a short presentation about the “cast of characters” who helped define the Bloom’s empire, including waiters, regulars and family members.
Pam will also discuss her research process and the social history behind this uniquely British-Jewish story. Plus, we will hear contributions from Bloom family descendants and Beverley-Jane Stewart, the artist behind the book’s vibrant cover and interior illustrations.
Pam is a respected author and social historian who has written extensively about Anglo-Jewish life. She has previously spoken at JW3 about her works, including her history of Bournemouth’s Jewish hotels. Alan Dein is a renowned broadcaster and oral historian, familiar to JW3 audiences for his engaging style and deep knowledge of Jewish life in the UK.
