Douglas MacArthur is one of the larger than life characters of The Second World War. 

He famously promised when the Americans were thrown out of The Philippines that he would return.

We shall look at the man himself, the war in The Philippines, both loss and recovery, as well as at the infamous ‘Death March’, following the defeat of American and Filipino forces by The Japanese Imperial Army after a three month struggle at Bataan in 1942.

William Tyler MBE is freelance educator, lecturing, public speaking, writing and consultancy with a main focus on History. He was the Principal of The City Lit, Britain’s largest college of adult education. He was his awarded his MBE for services to education.
