In late 2016, Oxford Dictionaries announced that “post-truth” had been chosen as the 2016 word of the year, defining it as a condition “in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.”

So where does that leave us now?

Please join us for our virtual Business Breakfast with James Harding (previously Director of BBC News and Editor of The Times, now Co-Founder and Editor of Tortoise) in conversation with his colleague Matthew d'Ancona (previously Dep Editor of the Sunday Telegraph, Editor of The Spectator and columnist for Guardian and Evening Standard).

They will discuss how we can navigate the truth in a world of misinformation, what impact that has had on the tumultuous year of 2020, and what challenges for truth 2021 may have in store.

There will be an appeal in aid of the work JW3 is doing to alleviate food poverty and an opportunity to network (virtually of course) with other attendees.

Previous JW3 Business Breakfast events have hosted Bradley Fried, Humphrey Cobbold, Sir Lloyd Dorfman, Alex Chesterman and Claude Littner and raised in total over £80,000 towards JW3 and ensuring that we continue to be open and accessible to all.
