Rose, 78, has just lost her most beloved husband. When her grief gives way to a powerful impulse of life that makes her realize that she can still redefine herself as a woman, the whole balance of the family is upset.

Rose

Synopsis

In this warm, feel-good French melodrama, rich with Sephardic and Ashkenazi atmosphere, Françoise Fabian portrays a widow reawakening to life’s possibilities. The sudden death of her beloved husband leaves Rose distraught and uncertain how to navigate the sunset of her years.

But refusing to fade into oblivion, Rose discovers long ignored aspirations of her own, throwing her family’s equilibrium off balance. Drawing heavily from her Tunisian-Jewish roots, actress-screenwriter Aurélie Saada’s directorial debut is a tender reminder that it’s never too late to seek fulfilment.
