Mitzvah Day is back at JW3! Join us to make a difference as part of the UK's largest day of faith-based social action.

Whether you're putting your gift wrap skills to the test, cooking with Project ImpACT or enjoying a mitzvah-themed kids' Crafternoon, there are a ton of activities on offer for all ages and interests.

This year's theme is 'Stronger Together'. After a year of conflict abroad and division at home, offers us a time to heal, connect with each other and focus on what matters in and between our communities – building a better society for all.

This year, we will be turning JW3 into a mega donation hub. There are 2 main ways you can support us:

  1. Organise a donation drive and drop off in advance of Mitzvah Day (see below for donated items we are seeking)
  2. Help receive, sort, and wrap donations on Mitzvah Day at our donation hub.

For more info on each activity and ways to get involved, check out the What's On section below or email adam.kendler@jw3.org.uk

Items to Donate

Foodbank Essentials

The JW3 Foodbank is looking for donations in the following areas. If you want to organise a larger donation drive in your community, email adam.kendler@jw3.org.uk

  • Tins (fruit, veg, beans)
  • Dried goods (rice, pasta)
  • Cooking oil
  • Sugar
  • Jams and spreads
  • Sauces
  • Instant coffee
  • Tea
  • Dried fruit
  • Baby food pouches, formula, nappies

All items must be suitable for vegetarians.

Children's Books

We will be working with the Children’s Book Project who work to end book poverty by taking donations of preloved books and gifting them to children living in the most deprived circumstances.

Please bring new or gently used children’s books for our book drive.
Our volunteers on Mitzvah Day will sort and pack the books, getting them ready for their new homes.

We can accept any children’s books in good condition, but please no religious books

Across the UK, 1 in 4 disadvantaged children owns fewer than 10 books, whilst 1 in 8 has none at all. This has an impact not only on these children’s academic outcomes but also on their wellbeing, emotional development and sense of themselves as a reader.

Gifts

We will be collecting new or unused festive treats, gifts, and small children’s toys. Our volunteers on Mitzvah Day will sort and wrap these gifts, so that our Foodbank service users will all receive a gift for the festive season.

  • Edible Gifts: Chocolate gift boxes, cakes, mince pies, biscuit gift boxes, sweets
  • Non-edible: Children’s toys, soaps, toiletries, candles, party crackers, games
  • Gift wrapping paper and ribbons

This is a full day event, with multiple sessions throughout the day.
