Professor Judith Schlanger will examine new evidence from the collections of the Bodleian Library to show how the interest of medieval Christian scholars in Jewish liturgy helps us to identify a manuscript of a Hebrew machzor as created and read in England before the expulsion in 1290.

Judith Schlanger, FBA, is President of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, Professor of Hebrew and Jewish Studies at Oxford University and Fellow of Corpus Christi College. She researches medieval Hebrew palaeography and book history.

JW3 is delighted to be partnering with the Oxford Centre for Jewish and Hebrew Studies and hosting this series showcasing the Fellows of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish studies.
