Join David Joseph KC in conversation with Sam Wordsworth KC as they discuss David’s remarkable new book BURGENLAND, Village Secrets and the First Tremors of the Holocaust

David Joseph KC studied law at Cambridge. He is well recognised across the common law world in the field of international commercial law, arguing some of the most complex and high profile legal disputes and is presently the Chair of COMBAR, the Commercial Bar organisation. He sits on the board of an organisation tackling Antisemitism in this country and also teaches as a Visiting Professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. BURGENLAND is his first book outside of law.  The research took him to many countries uncovering a substantial quantity of primary source material including letters, diaries and archived documents not previously examined.

Sam Wordsworth KC studied English literature at UCL (winning the Morley medal for the top first) before converting to law. He is one of the UK’s preeminent public international lawyers and has acted for multiple states (including for Israel in the Wall case before the ICJ). Given the choice between reading legal documents and great literature, he would always chose the latter, with a particular passion for Primo Levi, Vasily Grossman and André Schwarz-Bart.
