Aya’s routine life is shaken after a random encounter at the airport. She impulsively picks up a man she doesn’t know, but after a brief, intense connection, he disappears without a trace.
This sudden exit leaves Aya with a "gnawing hunger"— an emotional void she didn't know existed.
As she tries to find that feeling again, her relationship with her husband, Aviad (a linguist who studies ancient, dead languages), begins to show its cracks. While he focuses on the words of the past, Aya is looking for a new way to communicate her deepest desires in the present.
Dead Language is a beautiful and quiet film about how we often feel most seen by the people we know the least. With powerful performances by Sarah Adler and Yehezkel Lazarov, it explores the thin line between the life we have and the life we secretly crave.
