Zaubernacht (Magic Night) is a short ballet-opera for children by Kurt Weill and one of the highlights of our live performance season.
Bring a toy and a teddy, make yourself comfortable and listen and watch excerpts of this ballet in which children trapped in a refugee camp create an imaginary world where toys come to life.
Combining dance and music with past accounts of children during the Holocaust and present day refugee experience, this immersive and participatory event will tell these universal stories of persecution and exile from a child’s perspective.
The focus on objects, toys and games and the stories attached to them, will sensitively and respectfully highlight how games and toys can create a safe haven for children even in the most dire circumstances of displacement and lost identity.
This event is suitable for children aged 9 and over.
