Throughout November, we’ll be collecting donations for our JW3 Foodbank and local community partners.
On Sunday 22 November, from 12.30–3pm, we’ll come together at JW3 to sort donations, wrap festive gifts and take part in a range of activities for all ages.
There are lots of ways to get involved. Find out how you can donate, volunteer, create and make a difference this Mitzvah Day.
FESTIVE GIFTS FOR JW3 FOODBANK SERVICE USERS
Once again, we will be collecting gifts for our Foodbank’s service users and gift wrapping these on Mitzvah Day to distribute in December. Our service users really appreciated receiving these gifts last year, especially the parents who often focus so much on their kids that they were so grateful to receive presents themselves.
- New or unopened festive biscuits or chocolates
- Bath or shower gift sets
- Men’s gifts
- Children’s new or nearly new toys, activity or sticker books
- Winter accessories – e.g. gloves, scarves
- Store gift cards
We will also be collecting donations of wrapping paper, blank cards, ribbons and bows to wrap the items.
PANTRY AND TOILETRY DONATIONS FOR JW3 FOODBANK
Help us replenish our Foodbank’s supplies by donating items such as tinned vegetables, pasta, rice, pasta sauces, long-life milk, biscuits, coffee, liquid soap and deodorant!

Please note they are not accepting soft toys at present and do not accept toy guns, swords & weapon focused toys.
PROJECT IMPACT x JW3
Join us from 5.00–6.15pm for a hands-on volunteering cooking session! Together, we’ll make nutritious poke bowl meals to donate to local food banks and shelters, while learning new techniques and recipes you can recreate at home.
The annual Mitzvah Day event is a chance for teens to cook, connect and make a difference in the community whilst getting a taste of the Project ImpACT Youth Kitchen.
Places are limited. Click here to sign up and secure your place: LINK
This session is Duke of Edinburgh's Award accredited.
Please note that the event will be supervised by staff and youth leaders.
JEWISH HENNA — A SEPHARDI CELEBRATION OF HERITAGE, FAMILY AND TRADITION
Talks by Michelle Huberman at the Sephardi Henna Exhibition in the JW3 foyer
Michelle Huberman presents a fascinating and colourful introduction to the world of Jewish Henna — an ancient tradition that has been celebrated by Jewish communities across North Africa and the Middle East for generations.
Through photographs, stories, costumes, objects and personal research, Michelle explores the history and meaning of the Jewish henna ceremony, looking at the distinctive customs of North African, Iraqi, Yemenite, Persian and other Sephardi and Mizrahi communities.
Guests may be invited to have a small amount of henna applied to their hand, allowing them to experience one of the most joyful and symbolic aspects of the ceremony.

STILL ALIVE 'SKETCHING MITZVAH DAY'
We will be hosting a craft/sketching area as part of the donation sorting & gift wrapping activities. They will be bringing a small group to ‘sketch a Mitzvah’ and take part in our mitzvah day activities and Josh Dresner (founder of the project) will be encouraging regular Mitzvah Day participants to take part and sketch.
As part of our Mitzvah Day activities, we’ll be hosting a special Sketch a Mitzvah craft and sketching area alongside our donation sorting and gift-wrapping activities.
Join Josh Dresner, founder of Sketch a Mitzvah, pick up a pencil and get creative and help us sketch the mitzvot in action!
Bio:
Still Alive is a project started in 2025 to create spaces to sketch the beauty and variety of our Jewish community and culture.
We run sessions to look at familiar spaces with fresh eyes, and focus in on details we might never have seen and to create moments to simply draw together to connect with the Jewish community.
Each Still Alive session sparks a new grouping of creative people together, who appreciate art and our Jewish community buildings, spaces and people.
We are an inclusive community with people who are keen artists and those who rarely pick up a pencil at all. We have had nine events so far.
