Mark Maier
A regular at Edinburgh, top stand-up Mark Maier’s successes include Laid Back, Get Off With Mark Maier and Giving Up, Giving Up. His biggest suggest came when his hit 2004 show Object was adapted and transferred to huge acclaim on BBC Radio 4. It also won him the Hairline.Com Award.
A big fan of radio – as it is of him – Mark Maier has written and performed numerous hit shows for that bastion of cultured comedy, BBC Radio 4. His roll of honour includes three series of Trapped, a talking heads series called Inner Voices of Men, the sitcom Quando, Quando, Quando, Six Geese A' Laying and the aforementioned Object Lessons adaptation of his Edinburgh show. He also worked on the brilliant Liar with Paul Kaye for Talkback in 2002.
Mark's TV appearances include guest outings on Bring Me The Head of Light Entertainment, GMTV and, despite being happily married and a father, an appearance on ITV’s reality confrontation relationship show Dating The Enemy, as well as every live stand-up comedy show you could mention including Edinburgh Nights, Live At Jongleurs, The Stand Up Show and The World Stands Up. As a comic actor, he appeared alongside Ardal O’Hanlon and Hugh Dennis in the BBC’s long-running sitcom My Hero and also worked with Rory Bremner on Who Else?
