Join us for the UK Premiere of ETTI, a 6‑Part Mini‑Series by Hagai Levi.
In Nazi‑occupied Amsterdam, a young woman begins therapy. Her name is Etty Hillesum. At 27, fuelled by an intense passion for life, she embarks on a profound spiritual and emotional journey documented meticulously in her diaries.
These writings reveal her turbulent relationship with psycho-chirologist Julius Spier, a love affair that becomes the catalyst for her radical inner transformation—one intensified by the mounting threat she faces as a Jewish woman. Her path ultimately leads her to an extraordinary act of solidarity.
First published forty years after her death, Hillesum’s diaries have since been translated into more than twenty languages and sold millions of copies worldwide. Told in an unconventional form, the series creates a dialogue between past and present, showing how Etty’s search for meaning resonates powerfully today and posing a timely question: How do we find hope in a hopeless world?
We will be screening the complete 6-part series, including scheduled comfort breaks throughout.
