A haunting performance of The Ballad of Mauthausen to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

JW3 presents international Yiddish folk singer Niki Jacobs’ beautiful and haunting version of ‘The Ballad of Mauthausen’, originally a collaboration between poet Iakovos Kambanellis, a survivor of Kamp Mauthausen and composer Mikis Theodorakis, banned for activism against social injustice.

Using a Yiddish translation of the original Greek, this song-cycle connects the pre and post-war lives of all those affected by the tragedy of the Holocaust. With Ruud Breuls (Trumpet), Ro Krauss (Viola), Emile Visser (Cello) and Peter van Os (Accordion).
