Sandra Laub’s 80-minute solo play, Picking Up Stones, her reaction to October 7th, has been hailed as a “remarkable combination of passion, compassion and respect for the facts.

A ‘must see’ show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025, Sandra gives voice to many character perspectives, from Golda Meir to a Palestinian ‘mother of martyrs’, holding up two truths: one can weep for the death of Jewish children and the death of Palestinian children. Her play questions: How can the victims, the innocents on both sides, begin to heal from their trauma? How do diaspora Jews reaffirm their belief in the preservation of Jewish values in the land of Israel? How can people of every faith, denomination, and political persuasion acknowledge the need for peace, now.

The war has ‘ended’ but the peace is fragile. Jews and Muslims worldwide face a sharp spike in Antisemitism and Islamophobia. In America, political left and right swing sharply, debating the issue in the streets and on campus, and the Middle East is re-made as the world watches. Sandra grapples with emotions anyone can recognize in this swirling maelstrom of events.
