During the Second World War, newlywed Frida seeks refuge in her hometown of Šeduva, a shtetl in Lithuania, only to find that fear and betrayal have taken hold. She must confront an unthinkable choice - stay with her family or save herself.

Based on survivor testimony, Extinguished Lives is a short film which tells the little-known story of the Lithuanian Holocaust, exposing how a centuries-old community was erased village by village.

Shown recently at DOC NYC and the Miami Jewish Film Festival, Extinguished Lives was directed by award-winning filmmaker Roberta Grossman. It was created for the Lost Shtetl Museum, a new Holocaust Museum in Lithuania, which opened in late 2025 after more than a decade of research, planning and building.

Join us for a one-night only screening of the film, accompanied by a discussion featuring the team behind the Lost Shtetl Museum.
