As young people step into adulthood, the world ahead is unknown for them. From sitting national exams to facing new social experiences and navigating the digital world from their pocket, it can be exciting, terrifying, and overwhelming.
This three-part course, in partnership with Jami, part of Jewish Care, will equip parents with the knowledge to better understand their teen and develop the skills to provide support.
Led by Emma Dorman, CYP Education Lead & Senior Education Coordinator at Jami, part of Jewish Care, you can learn how to support your children during intense exam periods, set healthy screen boundaries and handle high pressured and emotional conversations with empathy and understanding.
Session 1 (27 January): Managing Exam Stress & Academic Pressure
This session will equip parents with tools and guidance to support their teens in managing anxiety during high pressured exam periods and explore how we can be in partnership with our young people during these tricky times.
Session 2 (10 February): Social Media & Screen Time
In this session, parents will learn how to establish healthy screen boundaries and support their teens in managing the challenges of today’s digital world.
Session 3 (24 February): Navigating High Emotional Situations: Communicating with Empathy, Respect and Understanding.
Learn how to connect with young people when they are experiencing high emotion and dysregulation and how to move towards communication using empathy, understanding each other's perspectives and the use of boundaries.
