On the anniversary of Kristallnacht – the Night of Broken Glass – we gather to remember a night of shattered glass, shattered lives, and a warning of what was to come.

With music, testimony, and reflections from survivors who rebuilt their lives in Britain, this evening honours those whose lives were forever changed.

Britain responded with generosity to those fleeing Nazi violence, offering sanctuary through efforts like the Kindertransport, but what happened after the horrors of the Holocaust came to light?

Journalist and academic Jon Silverman, author of Safe Haven, will be in conversation to explore what justice meant after the Holocaust — and how different nations, communities, and individuals responded in the years that followed. The Holocaust is part of our shared history, within living memory, and with consequences still felt today.

As the number of survivors dwindles, it becomes ever more important to remember the past and to reflect on the enduring importance of justice, memory, and moral responsibility.
