The Bride of Belsen tells the extraordinary story of Gena Turgel MBE.

The youngest of nine children, she survived four Nazi concentration camps. Having walked out of the gas chambers at Auschwitz concentration camp alive, she remained by her mother’s side, doing everything she could to keep her alive. She was liberated in 1945 by British soldier Norman Turgel.

Their love story captured the world’s imagination when they married just months later, Gena in a wedding dress made from a British parachute, now preserved at the Imperial War Museum. Known as “The Bride of Belsen”, she became one of the most recognised voices of Holocaust education, sharing her testimony with hundreds of thousands and earning an MBE for her service. Told in her own voice, with spellbinding imagery and a powerful soundtrack, this is her testimony.
