In his final years, Rembrandt van Rijn painted some of his most striking self-portraits. Perhaps no artist in the history of Western art has celebrated old age with as much love and respect as Rembrandt.

Early in his career he painted a series of deeply moving portraits of an old woman traditionally believed to be his mother. Later on he explored the aging process by looking into the mirror and painting his own portrait.

Join us to explore how artists represent ageing, and how our interpretations shape what we see.
