There’s an old Jewish joke that giraffe meat would be kosher, if only we knew where to cut the neck.

Hugo Max’s films, paintings and performances draw upon collective history and religious practices, offering a unique reflection on Jewish identity. 

Following screenings and performances at the Austrian Filmmuseum, London’s BFI Southbank and Prince Charles Cinema, Hugo Max joins us for a programme of his experimental short films interspersed with live music and a Q&A.
