When assimilated detective Bobby Gold (Joe Mantegna) is assigned to investigate the murder of an elderly Jewish shopkeeper, a routine case spirals into a crisis of loyalty, heritage, and betrayal. Widely regarded as David Mamet’s most personal film, Homicide is a gripping neo-noir that wrestles head-on with Jewish identity.

Screening includes an exclusive introduction by Professor Nathan Abrams (David Mamet: A Life), offering a midrashic reading of the film’s moral tensions and concealed Jewish subtext. Followed by a book signing in the cafe.
