Unapologetically Jewish

For over 25 years, Vanessa Hidary has used spoken word poetry to explore Jewish identity, challenge stereotypes, and navigate the complexities of belonging.

From her early days on HBO’s Def Poetry to finding herself at the centre of increasingly difficult conversations about Jewish identity and Zionism, Vanessa’s artistic journey has been anything but predictable.

In this powerful and deeply personal evening, Vanessa brings together poetry and storytelling to reflect on the shifting landscape of Jewish life, the friendships and communities tested since October 7, and the complicated experience of being both proudly Jewish and politically homeless.

With her signature blend of raw honesty, vulnerability, and unapologetic expression, Vanessa explores what it means to hold on to your identity, challenge expectations, and refuse to let others define who you are.

The performance will be followed by an audience Q&A, opening the floor for candid conversation about identity, art, belonging, and speaking up when it matters most.
