This year’s tribute brings together four artists and cultural leaders whose work reflects the spirit of the Spiro Ark: curiosity, Jewish identity, storytelling, music, art, cinema and the courage to follow a distinctive path.
Hedva Goldschmidt (Film Distribution • Founder & CEO, Go2Films )
Hedva Goldschmidt, founder and CEO of Go2Films, is a renowned international distributor of Israeli and Jewish cinema. Her bond with Robin and Nitza Spiro began while representing student films from Jerusalem’s Ma’ale Film School, finding lifelong mentors and kindred spirits who believed culture and film could build community and bridge divides. She continues their shared legacy by championing cinema as a vital catalyst for connection, dialogue, and social change.
Daniel Cainer (Musical Storyteller • Comic Bard)
Musical storyteller Daniel Cainer made his debut before a Jewish audience at the Spiro Ark in 2005. Guided by Robin and Nitza’s encouragement, he has performed his poignant, humour-filled tales of family foibles, Anglo-Jewish life, and human warmth in theatres and synagogues worldwide, earning the accolade “Comic Bard of Anglo-Jewry” (The Jewish Chronicle). Tonight, he honours Spiro’s mission to educate, comfort, and repair the world.
Tally Koren (Singer-Songwriter • Composer )
Tally Koren received her first London concert opportunity from Nitza Spiro at Lauderdale House. Driven by the conviction that “The only thing that holds you back is you,” she turned perceived obstacles into triumph—landing on the BBC Radio 2 playlist, earning praise from Graham Norton, and performing at the Royal Albert Hall. Tonight, her songs and stories echo the Spiro mission of hope, resilience, and forging your own path.
Ruth Jacobsen (Visual Arts • Stained Glass & Etching )
Born in 1941 to a family of refugees, Ruth’s artistic journey exploring Jewish history and literature was ignited over three decades ago when her son David introduced her to Spiro courses. Originally working in etching, she later embraced stained glass to produce luminous works. Her vibrant panels Sefarad and Kiddush Hashem, directly inspired by lectures at Spiro, are currently on loan to the Spiro Ark in lasting tribute to Robin and Nitza’s dedication.
