Before the show starts, accusation sheets and pencils are available for audience members to write and submit their accusations. Only a handful of cases will be heard so make sure yours is a good one. Top Tip: Consider incidents rather than bare insults.
For example:
Mum - accused of anti-social behaviour by her kids for how loud she is when playing on their X-Box.
Dad - accused of kitchen-crimes. Specifically his over-enthusiastic use of chilli in family dinners.
Of course, the kids are not immune from justice. Parents always make claims against their kids for the state of their bedrooms or more generally their lack of contribution to household chores. *yawn* (We always find them innocent for such a boring charge. It’s their personal space and their choice to live in a cesspit or not.)
Top comedians in their roles of Judge, prosecutor and defence lawyers will hear testimony, gather evidence and cross-examine key or ‘expert’ witnesses before arguing the cases put before them.
Expect a unique comedy experience brought by some of the very best performers in the business. Each show is different and is shaped by the audience. Participation is part of the fun. Kids also get to discover what a trial is, how law works, albeit, by comedians and can put parents before the judge! Then it’s up to the audience, as jury, to deliver your verdict, who is guilty… or innocent.
Families are encouraged to come with a specially reduced group ticket. (Limited availability so book asap!) Never the same show twice and it’s always hilarious fun.
Background: Since its launch at the 2013 Edinburgh fringe festival, the show has been performed more than a thousand times across the UK and has enjoyed several tours of Australia. Winner of the IYAF (international youth arts festival) Best Family Show in 2017. The format was adapted for television with the smash hit CBBC show, ‘Monster Court’ during COVID and is soon to be relaunched for the same channel as ‘Judge Hacker’.
