A pioneer of modernism, Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) was one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century.

Her organic shapes, "pierced" holes, and fascination with colour, reflect a deep connection between human figures and the natural world.

Coinciding with the exhibition Hepworth in Colour at the Courtauld Gallery (12 June - 6 September 2026), this talk will explore how her body of work engaged with Jewish artists who migrated to Britain.

Together with Jacob Epstein, Naum Gabo, László Moholy-Nagy, and Lucie Rie, Hepworth fostered new visions to expand the story of art.

Sophie is an art historian, writer, and lecturer, with a special interest in visual culture and architecture. She has worked with leading institutions in the culture and heritage sectors across Europe and brings a rich, interdisciplinary perspective to her talks.
