Your questions, answered

Do I need to be Jewish?

No. We’re an open space and everyone is welcome.

Do I need to be a member?

No. Membership is a discount scheme, not an entry requirement.

Where do I park?

There’s no public car park. Street parking is free in the evenings and all day Sunday.

Is there wifi?

Yes, free wifi throughout the building.

Are there water stations?

Yes, around the building — so do bring a bottle. We also have reusable cups rather than disposable ones: just ask at the café, and please be kind and bring them back.

Will there be a security check?

There are security officers on the doors and checks may be carried out. It’s routine — just allow a few extra minutes.

Is the café kosher?

Yes. Our Café & Bar is kosher, approved by the Sephardi Kashrut Authority. There’s no meat on the menu and plenty of choice for vegetarians. From 5pm it becomes London’s only kosher cocktail bar.

Can I bring my own food?

No — only food and drink bought at JW3 may be eaten here. Do tell us about any allergies before you order.

Getting here

We’re on the Finchley Road, where
Hampstead meets West Hampstead

Map showing JW3 on Finchley Road at Lymington Road, with nearby stations, bus stops and the O2 Centre car park.

We’d rather you came by public transport if you can — it’s kinder to the environment and to our neighbours.

By Tube, train and bus

Finchley Road & Frognal

Overground — about as close to our front door as you could wish for.

Finchley Road

Jubilee & Metropolitan — a 600 metre walk, or one bus stop.

West Hampstead

Thameslink is a 600 metre walk; Jubilee is 800 metres.

Hampstead

Northern line — a 15 minute walk.

Buses

The 13, 113 and N113 stop right outside. The C11, 139, 187 and 268 are 5–10 minutes away.

Coming by bike

Covered racks for 50 bicycles under our bridge. Come in through the Lymington Road entrance, and leave helmets and kit in our secure lockers on the first floor.

Coming by car

There is no public car park on site. We’re in a residential area, so please be considerate of our neighbours and check the signs wherever you park.

Parking

Free street parking

Finchley Road after 7pm; adjacent side roads from 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, and all day Sunday.

O2 Centre car park

400m away, with discounts — and sometimes free parking — if you shop in the centre.

Blue Badge holders

A small number of on-site spaces. Please call the Box Office in advance on 020 7433 8988.

When we’re open

  Sunday–Thursday Friday Saturday

These are our usual hours, but they do change. We close for Shabbat, so we finish early on Fridays and are normally shut on Saturdays — though we open some Saturday evenings for performances. Arriving

What happens when you get here

The thing that catches first-timers out: our main door isn’t at street level, and it isn’t the only way in.

1

Two ways in — check the time before you set off

We have two entrances and they keep different hours. Both have level access.

Finchley Road · 12pm–8pm

Across the wide pedestrian bridge over our sunken piazza, with JW3 in large letters on the building beyond. Brings you in on the first floor.

Lymington Road · 10am–10pm

Brings you in on the lower ground floor, where the Café & Bar is. Open longest, so use this one if you’re arriving before noon or after 8pm.

2

Say hello to our security team

There are security officers at both entrances and checks may be carried out when you arrive. It’s routine and everyone goes through it — but do allow a few extra minutes for a busy evening show. Please travel light: there’s a coat rail, but space on it is limited.

3

Reception and the Box Office are just inside

Both are on the first floor, by the Finchley Road entrance — so if you came in from Lymington Road, take the lift or stairs up one level. If you’re lost or need anything at all, this is the place to ask.

4

For performances, doors open about 15 minutes before

That’s the timing for shows and screenings; latecomers may be admitted at a suitable break, though not always, so build in a buffer. For classes and courses there’s no need to wait — come to Reception and we’ll point you to the right room.

Access

Getting around, comfortably

Step-free throughout

Level access at both entrances, lifts to every floor, and accessible toilets throughout.

Being dropped off

Cars and cabs can pull in at Lymington Road, by the step-free doors.

Blue Badge parking

A few on-site spaces — please call the Box Office in advance.

Accessible serving points

Both the Box Office and the Café & Bar have them.

Wheelchair spaces

In the Cinema and Howard Hall, plus a raised area for standing gigs. Book by phone.

Hearing loop

In the Cinema and Howard Hall. Set your hearing aid to Channel T.

Subtitles

Where a screening is subtitled, we say so on the event page when you book.

Assistance dogs

Always welcome. Other animals aren’t.

Anything you need? Call the Box Office on 020 7433 8988 before you come. Neither of the closest stations is step-free to the platforms, so a bus, taxi or Lymington Road drop-off may be easier.
