69 years after the birth of the State of Israel, JW3 is once again hosting Israel Week. A week of learning and conversation, of reflection and debate and of celebration and fun, all looking at different aspects of Israel today and what Israel means to us.

Crafternoon: Colours of Israel

Make a collage of your favourite Israeli place, person or food! For ages 2+. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 


 

Wednesday 26 April


Jerusalem Tango

1946. At the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, a Jewish woman and a British officer dance the tango before the world around them is torn apart. Ariella Eshed directs this staged reading of Pat Rowe’s play, which shines a light on a defining moment in British and Israeli history.

A British Museum Tour of Ancient Israel

The Dean of London School of Jewish Studies leads this tour around ancient Israel within the surroundings of the British Museum. We’ll look at how ancient Israel and Hebrew sit amongst empires from Babylon to Egypt, as well as how Israel is referenced in ancient texts and artefacts.

Oy Vey! The Matinee! - The Band's Visit

An Egyptian brass band travels to Israel but arrives in the wrong town in this much-loved comedy featuring a classic roller skating scene. The Band’s Visit is showing as part of our new monthly film matinee series, the perfect way to laze away a Sunday afternoon. Price includes a free bagel!

Rona Kenan in Concert

Doors open at 8pm, concert starts at 8:30pm. With her distinctive velvety voice, biting lyrics and virtuoso guitar playing, Rona Kenan is one of Israel's most distinguished artists. She has released four highly successful, critically-acclaimed albums to date, three of which reached gold status, and in 2009 she was named Singer of the Year by Israel's most popular music radio station.
