Mind Sports Olympiad: Colour Chess WC

Colour Chess is like normal chess but with a coloured board. The colour of the square that a piece is moved to dictates the starting colour from which a move must be made by the opponent. If no move is possible then the turn is skipped. Each player gets two moves a turn but the first move must always come from the same coloured square that the opponent had just landed on. The king can move into check and the game is only over once the king is captured. For a demo, see the following video:

Classes & Courses

Mind Sports Olympiad: 7 Wonders Duel

What's different about 7 Wonders Duel is that, as the title suggests, the game is solely for two players, with the players not drafting cards simultaneously from hands of cards, but from a display of face-down and face-up cards arranged at the start of a round. A player can take a card only if it's not covered by any others, so timing comes into play as well as bonus moves that allow you to take a second card immediately. As in the original game, each card that you acquire can be built, discarded for coins, or used to construct a wonder.

Is Yoga Kosher?

Some are quick to condemn, some are quick to say "I'll do it anyway" and some are happy to admit they don't know. Yoga and Judaism is a hot topic and "is yoga kosher?" is the most frequently-asked question according to Marcus Freed, teacher and author of The Kosher Sutras: A Yogi's Guide to the Torah, and President of the Jewish Yoga Network. During this talk, Marcus will share Torah perspectives, Rabbinic contraversies and ideas to help you decide! (Quick answer: it is a very grey area with conflicting opinions, but it is a Jewish question, so is that a surprise?).

A.M. Homes.

The short form has always fascinated A.M. Homes, who, in the nearly three decades since her seminal debut collection The Safety of Objects, has been celebrated by readers and critics alike as one of our boldest and most original writers, acclaimed for her psychological accuracy and "satire so close to the truth it's terrifying" (Ali Smith). Last year we were given "Days of Awe"- her first book since the Women's Prize-winning May We Be Forgiven, and is a major new addition to her body of visionary, fearless, outrageously funny work. (Viking). With her signature humor and compassion, A.M. Homes exposes the heart of an uneasy America in her new collection - exploring our attachments to each other through characters who aren't quite who they hoped to become, though there is no one else they can be.
