Cooking as an art was born in Sicily and the island almost certainly boasts Italy’s oldest cuisine.

This remarkable culinary heritage was influenced by rulers and visitors who brought new ingredients with them – olives from the Greeks, spices, couscous and ice cream from the Arabs, tomatoes and aubergines from the Spanish - and plenty more.

Aviva will demonstrate some typical Sicilian dishes including zucchine in agrodolce (sweet and sour courgettes) and riso e melanzane alla Palermita (rice and aubergine bake).
