Tal Keinan in Conversation With Rabbi Lord Sacks
Part of the Global Jewish Conversations Series
Join us for a fascinating conversation with Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, one of the foremost authorities and inspirational leaders on the challenges facing Judaism today, and Tal Keinan, author of the powerful new book, God Is in the Crowd: Twenty-First Century Judaism, which R.Sacks described as: “Enthralling, searching, profound, an extraordinarily powerful work on Jewish identity in the twenty-first century.”
“God is in the Crowd” has already ignited a conversation in Israel and the USA between secular and religious Jews about the fate of the Jewish people. In this exclusive conversation, Rabbi Sacks and Tal Keinan will explore ideas aimed at ensuring a bright and dynamic future for the Jewish People. The audience will hear Tal’s bold proposal for rediscovering relevance in Judaism in the modern world and safeguarding its survival, and have the opportunity to join in the conversation with him and Rabbi Sacks about strengthening Jewish identity and the global Jewish community.
Our moderator for the evening will be Baroness Ros Altmann CBE. Baroness Altmann is a British life peer, leading UK expert on pensions and later life issues, and campaigner for consumer interests. She was appointed to the House of Lords following the 2015 general election as UK Pensions Minister under David Cameron – the country’s first Shomer Shabbat/Kashrut Minister of State. She is politically independent-minded, championing policies for ordinary people and social justice. She advised Tony Blair’s Labour Government on Pensions Policy and was Business Champion for Older Workers under the Coalition Government. Although best known for her work on pensions, she is also involved in economic and monetary policy analysis, as well as highlighting the inadequacies of the social care system. She has a first class honours degree in Economics from University College London, a Ph.D. in Economics from London School of Economics and was a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard. Baroness Altmann is a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics, a Vice President of the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC), a Trustee of the Chief Rabbinate Trust, and an active member of Finchley United Synagogue (Kinloss).
