Directed by Abeer Zeibak Haddad | 2016 | Israel | Arabic and Hebrew with English subtitles | 70 mins

“My late sister wasn’t murdered because she brought shame on her family, what killed her was my weakness, my despair, my anger and stupidity” says one of the contributors to this highly controversial documentary.

Women of Freedom follows the stories of women who were murdered in the name of so-called 'honour killings', women whose lives are under threat, women who survived murder attempts, even that of a killer expressing remorse. The documentary tries to unravel the social and political circumstances that have led to this custom.

The director Abeer Zeibak Haddad, who witnessed such a tragedy in her own life, embarked on a journey through Israel and Palestine, collecting stories of the victims, the survivors and the killers themselves.
