The Ronnie Scott’s Story

Arts & Culture

Direct from London’s world-famous jazz club, The Ronnie Scott’s Quintet come to JW3.

Combining live jazz, narration and rare archive photos and video, this is a musical celebration of how a Jewish East End boy became an international name for jazz. Mixing tales of miscreant musicians and police raids.

The Ronnie Scott’s Club Quintet is led by the ebullient and highly acclaimed pianist James Pearson. James Pearson is one of the most exciting musicians to have emerged from the UK in the last 25 years. After working with him, the late jazz legend Sir John Dankworth declared, ‘James Pearson is an exceptionally gifted artist. His masterful playing makes him head and shoulders above the rest of his contemporaries. He shows signs of true greatness’.

Joining James is bassist Sam Burgess, drummer Chris Higginbottom, saxophonist Alex Garnett and trumpeter Freddie Gavita. All of which have been considered some the top jazz musicians in the country and have performed with the likes of The BBC Big Band, Jools Holland, Carleen Anderson, and countless other international stars.
