New Countries

with Clive Lawton

Classes & Courses

You’ll have heard many conversations around the Shabbat table, that make mention of the remarkable achievements of the State of Israel in a very short time. Many of us are fond of saying ‘no other country…’ but how much of it is true? Since the end of WWII, a significant number of independent countries have come into existence. In fact, in 1930 there were about 50, and now that number stands at around 200. Over this 5 week course, we will examine a range of smaller countries and ask ourselves how their development compares, and how the world is influencing their direction.

1: 8th January  Ghana and the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo);
2: 15th January  Pakistan and India;
3: 22 January; Singapore and South Korea;
4: 29 January  China and Taiwan;
5: 26th February  Israel and the UAE.
