Modern Jewish Literature

This Autumn we will explore the richness of modern Jewish literature through reading Israeli, European and American books. This term's books will include Liar, a new novel from the award-winning Israeli writer Ayelet Gundar-Goshen, The Tobacconist by Robert Seethaler, a literary journey through Vienna in the late 1930s, Black Jew(ish) author Afua Hirsh's Brit(ish): On Race, Identity and Belonging, and Shylock Is My Name and Howard Jacobson's rewriting of Shakespeare's most famous Jew.
