Guardian journalist and award-winning blogger Stuart Heritage discusses his hilarious new book, Don’t Be A Dick, Pete, in conversation with Nikita Lalwani. Stuart is bookish, a new father, a lover of quiet pubs. His younger brother Pete is a hot-headed, alpha male, wrestling fanatic. This is Pete’s biography: a portrait of modern masculinity in crisis, a thoughtful reflection of fraternal dynamics and an affectionate study of how families work. It’s also about how Pete is a bit of a dick.

Stuart Heritage is a regular writer for the Guardian and his weekly column, ‘Man With a Pram’, ran from 2015-2016. He founded a celebrity news site called Hecklerspray (named by the Observer in the top 50 most powerful blogs in the world, 2008) and has written for publications including Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, the NME, Time out and the Radio Times.

Nikita Lalwani is the author of Gifted, which was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize and shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award and The Village, which was selected for the Fiction Uncovered campaign for the best of British fiction in 2013. She was a judge for the 2013 Orwell Prize, Britain’s most prestigious prize for political writing.
