Kinoteka: Dolce fine giornata
Directed by Jacek Borcuch | 2019 | PL | 1hr 32 | Certificate 18
60-something Polish Jewish poet Maria Linde (Krystyna Janda) lives a calm family life in Tuscany, as at ease with the local intelligentsia as she is with the migrants working in nearby tavernas. Shortly after she is awarded a Nobel Prize, a terror attack happens in Rome. Maria makes a controversial speech that quickly goes viral, shattering her liberal utopia. The latest film from Jacek Borcuch, Dolce Fine Giornata is a complex moral drama that is bold, honest and exquisitely executed. Krystyna Janda’s performance earned her the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award at Sundance Film Festival.
