This poignant short feature, adapted by Ronald Harwood from his 1960 TV play, stars John Bennett as lonely bachelor Mr. Figg, whose Stamford Hill barbershop is a haven in which to regale customers with tales of an imaginary family life.

The reality on this Friday evening - lighting the Sabbath candles in his tiny bedsit; a quiet chess game with mute friend Dober - sees him seek out kindly widow Mrs Werner.
