Imprisoned by memory

with Bogdan Frymorgen & Prof Antony Polonsky

Classes & Courses

Join us for an evening discussing the stunning and impactful black and white artistic photography album by Bogdan Frymorgen.

When discussing his work, he said he tried to capture “the metaphorical emptiness of this place”, as he managed to capture remainings only of what the Jewish Quarter was in the past.

“Kazimierz” is a photographic meditation on the relationship between an artist and a unique place on earth the former Jewish Quarter of Kraków.

“Some locations presented in this album already look different. Others will soon undergo a similar transformation. This is only a snapshot of history. In a few years, it can show a world that no longer exists. After all, it died once already” - writes Bogdan Frymorgen.

Bogdan Frymorgen studied English at the Jagiellonian University of Kraków.  For twenty-four years he worked for the BBC World Service. He lives in London and works as the British correspondent of Radio RMF FM. He collaborates with a number of cultural institutions in Poland. He is a curator of photographic and art exhibitions and a Member of the Union of Polish Art Photographers.  He is a trustee of the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków.
