82 minutes with intro

Allison Zionts from KeshetUK introduces this powerful documentary exploring the persecution of gay men during the Holocaust.

Weimar Germany was a homosexual Eden in the 1920s: gay and lesbian nightclubs and magazines flourished, the first homosexual rights movement was born. And then the Nazis came to power.

The film chronicles the lives of several gay men and one lesbian who were persecuted by the Nazis. The gay men were arrested by the Nazis for the crime of homosexuality under Paragraph 175, the sodomy provision of the German penal code, dating back to 1871.

We are delighted that this special screening will be introduced by Allison Zionts from KeshetUK. Allison is a secondary school teacher based in Greenwich, and an associate lecturer at the University of West London. Allison is passionate about equality within education, and has helped to found the Stonewall Champions groups within her schools, as well as writing resources that have been used around Greenwich and Croydon on the inclusion of LGBT youth. Originally from Pittsburgh and Montreal, Allison moved to the UK in 2010 and became involved with Moishe House London and Grassroots Jews.
