Dinner at the Villa Diodati

Arts & Culture

Part of the Hampstead and Highgate Literary Festival

1816, the Villa Diodati near Lake Geneva, a group of young romantics gather. Volcanic ash darkens the atmosphere, thunderstorms roll across the lake. Mary and Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and Claire Clairmont discuss literature late into the night. Then Byron suggests they tell each other ghost stories and the legend of Frankenstein is born.

200 years since the publication of Mary Shelley’s ground-breaking novel, we invite you to join us as we recreate the moment of its conception over Friday night dinner. Readings, a delicious meal from Zest and a haunting evening of monsters, mystery and magic.
