City of the Past, City of the Future

An Exclusive Evening with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat

Arts & Culture

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat was 7 years old when the Six Day War broke out in his home city, and when Israel’s capital was finally reunited. In partnership with Limmud, the 2017 winner of the Jerusalem Unity prize, and the Jerusalem Foundation, we are delighted to host Mayor Barkat for an exclusive evening of conversation, as he reflects on Jerusalem at 50, the fulfilment of a 2,000-year-old dream.

Mayor Barkat will share with us his personal Jerusalem story as a successful entrepreneur and his journey into politics. He will reflect on the ongoing cultural renaissance and exponential growth of hi-tech during his almost-decade as Jerusalem’s Mayor, as well as the city’s challenges and successes in the face of terror. And he will discuss what it means for Jerusalem to be seen as the spiritual centre of the world, and the responsibility that brings.

Mayor Barkat will be interviewed live at JW3 before we open up to our audience to join the conversation and ask questions.

Please note, all proceeds from this event contribute to JW3’s Programming running costs. Many thanks to Mayor Barkat for generously contributing his time, and to the Jerusalem Foundation for introducing the Mayor’s team to JW3.
